Our Story

Eight years ago my family was living in Atlanta, GA with my husband and I both working outside of the home. With a young son, I realized we needed more freedom to enjoy the outdoors so we headed back home to Liberty County. This move made me appreciate being a homeowner as well as owning land in an area with such great historical contributions. Being formally trained in educational leadership and communications, our family promises to continue forming relationships with neighbors near and far.

This land is special to me because it belonged to my husband’s Grandmother who owned Tena’s Deli. She had a vision and was successful. My belief that we should continue to utilize this land to feed the community in a new way and keep it within the Morris family.

The goal for this space is to serve others, encourage our neighbors to take pride in our environment, and continue to safeguard the hard foundational work our ancestors worked for.

The Liberty County Historical Society mentions, “The Negro population of Liberty County, about 65% of the total numbers about 9000. Most of them own their land, on which they grow cotton, cane, and, raise rice, but prices are low and money is scarce.” This statement demonstrates my fervor to continue to rise above antiquated ways of life and open LLM to serve and bridge gaps that have existed while promoting a stylish environment that is representative of the beauty of our communities and the people in them.

I envision LLM being a place that individuals, families, landscape companies, and contractors can come to to get their materials whether it’s a small DIY project or a larger project. Also a hub where education concepts can be disseminated through raised bed  garden kits and Little Free Library loaned books.
